Patience is a virtue – but that doesn’t make it any easier when you’re waiting to see the benefits of a new beauty product or cream you’re using 🙂
Two products in particular seem to bring out the most impatience in people – wrinkle creams and whitening creams. Today I want to talk a bit about skin whitening and how long it can take for the effects to start showing.
There are 3 main factors that determine how long it takes. It may take several weeks or even months to fully notice the changes in your skin.
1. Your Skin Type
Your basic skin type is an important factor as this will determine the fundamental way the cream interacts with your skin. Firstly, you should be using your chosen cream twice a day, every single day (or according to the manufacturers instructions). Secondly, make sure you follow good practice for how to apply your creams. Your skin might will be either normal, sensitive or combination.
So roughly how long does it take skin whitening cream to work?:-
- Normal skin will take about 4 to 8 weeks
- Sensitive skin will take 2 to 3 weeks
- Combination skin will take 6 to 8 weeks
2. The Whitening Ingredients
The next factor will of course be the active ingredients in the cream, and the concentration of them. There are many different skin lightening products, and each one will of course be formulated slightly to vastly differently depending on the manufacturer.
Lactic acid, retinoic acid, vitamin C, melawhite, arbutin, and kojic acid are all recognized as effective active ingredients. How much of these ingredients is actually in the cream will determine the effectiveness of the it. As a rough general guide it should have somewhere around 1 to 4 per cent concentration of the active ingredients. Read more ›
